The story of our adventure in Spain



In October 2002 we purchased a holiday flat in Guardamar on Spain's Costa Blanca - not far from Alicante and Torrevieja and we try to spend a good part of the year in Spain.

This blog hopefully will contain our thoughts and impressions of Spain - the good and the bad and lots and lots of photographs of not only Guardamar but the rest of Spain as we eventually get to explore it.

Guardamar - the building slump

A familiar sight now in Spain - work on many construction sites seems to have come to a standstill and many of the workers are now unemployed.

Over capacity is one of the problems - many thousands of homes have been built but the supply of customers has dried up .

And why is this ? - Credit problems : Destruction of the beautiful coastline : Bad Press in the UK and German newspapers : Corruption :   the list can go on and on ....

We'll have to wait and see what happens to the market in future years.
