The story of our adventure in Spain

In October 2002 we purchased a holiday flat in Guardamar on Spain's Costa Blanca - not far from Alicante and Torrevieja and we try to spend a good part of the year in Spain.

This blog hopefully will contain our thoughts and impressions of Spain - the good and the bad and lots and lots of photographs of not only Guardamar but the rest of Spain as we eventually get to explore it.

PhotoHunt - View

This week the PhotoHunt subject is VIEW     -      la vista

Here we have the Castle of Saint Barbara in Alicante  -   el castillo de Santa Barbara

There are certainly some good views to be had ......

This is the very top with views overlooking the hinterland - to reach the top take the easy way - a lift ( elevator )  -  walk or drive up by car or the tourist bus .

The city centre and the bullring   - la plaza de toros

Through the trees can be seen the holiday resorts to the north with their many apartment blocks.

Part of the sea front and the marina with hundreds of leisure boats ..

And here we have the harbour with dockyards and even a ferry to Algeria ..

Quite some view from the castle ..

Those are wonderful shots. Great sequence for the view theme. You asked about what the outdoor art I shot in the Museum Park for monochrome monday was made of. It's brick, steel, mortar, glass tile, stone. Thanks for visiting.

My parents visited Spain (Valencià y Javéà) in the 60's, and just like you, they fall in love with the country, and the pride of the Spaniards. Surely, people have changed, but the beauty of the cities remained the same. Except for the touristic areas. I see that Alicante is not as Benidorm, but ... I can already watch a lot of skyscrapers.
The very top looks like a city on the other side of Mediterranean sea. Historical influence, probably.
