The story of our adventure in Spain

In October 2002 we purchased a holiday flat in Guardamar on Spain's Costa Blanca - not far from Alicante and Torrevieja and we try to spend a good part of the year in Spain.

This blog hopefully will contain our thoughts and impressions of Spain - the good and the bad and lots and lots of photographs of not only Guardamar but the rest of Spain as we eventually get to explore it.

Guardamar - Scrapyard ??

This looks to me like a scrapyard for old boats - no doubt they could be someone's pride and joy..

The river Segura in Guardamar - they have certainly tried to clean this area up over the last few years.

Streets of Guardamar - Carrer Juan Garcia

These high rise apartments certainly dominate the marina area of Guardamar.

Convenient apartments if you happen to have a boat in the marina.

Guardamar

I love the colours on this building - whenever I walk by I'm impressed with the colour scheme.

Managed to stick the camera through the fence and get these pictures.

Spanish TV

May 6th is big day for Spanish TV - 9 channels will be withdrawn because the broadcasters have had their DTT licences withdrawn.

It would appear that the courts have ruled that these licences should have been put out for general tender but were not and therefore the current licence is withdrawn.

Included in the list of channels is Nitro and LaSexta3. This is a great pity as these channels showed films in the original language which is usually English.

Possibly in the future a further 8 channels are rumoured to be withdrawn. No doubt some other companies will apply for licences and perhaps we'll see more channels again.
